Current Vacancies
In the past Eighteen months Durnovaria Silver Band has transformed itself into a vibrant ensemble which now comprises of 30+ brass players in our main band. We are proud to declare that we are the fastest growing Brass Organisation in West Dorset, with our Main Band, Training Band and Beginners Brass Classes.
To complete our Main Band line up we require Eb & Bb Bass, Tutti Front Row Cornet and Soprano Cornet players.
We have a thriving training band where everybody is welcome over the age of 8 including adult beginners or those returning to banding after a hiatus.
Training is also available for complete beginners in our Beginners Brass Classes.
All instruments, music and lessons are provided free of charge.

The Durnovaria Silver Band is a musically progressive Brass Band in Dorchester and under the current MD leadership of Ian Young we are increasing in numbers and going from strength to strength we currently have 29 Brass & percussion players in the band.
We still require the elusive Bass players either Bb or Eb (or both) and a Soprano cornet player, you could be a cornet player who might want to transition to Soprano if so we have the resources to support you.
You could be a returning Brass player or someone who enjoys playing in another band and wants another evening of brass playing whatever your current situation then you’d be extremely welcome at DSB.
All instruments are provided.
Rehearsals on Friday evenings from 6pm – 6.45pm (training band)
DSB main band 7pm – 9pm
We are still looking for a Soprano Cornet player or a Bb Cornet player who would like to try Soprano (instrument provided) also a Bass player either Bb or Eb

Although these are our current vacancies we would never turn a potential player away, so if you have recently moved to the area or are looking to change bands for a new fresh outlook then do please don’t hesitate to contact our MD Ian Young.
Training Band
Our training band meets each Friday from 18:00 to 18:45 If you are aged 8 or over and would like to learn to play a brass instrument then please do get in touch. Lapsed players who would like to return to the brass banding world would be most welcome, age is not a barrier!!!
All instruments and tuition are provided free of charge.
